Transparency & Dialogue

As a leading multinational company, ICL recognizes the unique needs and interests of a broad spectrum of stakeholders including employees, customers, and other business partners, investors, governmental and regulatory authorities, academia, local communities, the media, environmental activists, and consumer, and social and community organizations. Although many of the topics pertaining to sustainability are global by nature, each stakeholder group is characterized by its needs and interests. ICL acknowledges the significance of these stakeholders and the various interests they represent and is committed to facilitating candid, open, and beneficial communication with each group. ICL operates in accordance with the basic principle of open and active communication. Guided by the ethos of transparency, ICL facilitates dialogues with stakeholders, addressing concerns that range from minor issues or concerns to larger areas of dispute. It also ensures stakeholders have access to comprehensive and reliable information regarding its activities. \

This transparency and dialogue extends to all areas of operation: ICL operates in a transparent manner and encourages dialogue with its stakeholders concerning its development and production activities, including their economic, social, and environmental impact and the appropriate use of ICL’s products, as well as risks related to their use. Initiating communication channels and developing tools for stakeholder dialogue. To cater to the varied interests and geographic diversity of its stakeholders, ICL uses multiple communication channels and platforms tailored to different needs. This helps enhance transparency and maintain a continuous dialogue with various groups and individuals.

Observing stakeholders’ interests: Over the past decade, ICL has been engaged in a significant dialogue with its different stakeholders in an effort to stay informed and proactive. 

Engaging Our Stakeholders

ICL makes significant efforts to be accessible to its diverse stakeholders. It utilizes a myriad of media outlets and strategies tailored to each group and that range in scope and frequency.  

To engage with the general public, and introduce its activities and products, ICL publishes information on multiple platforms; the Company’s website, Company’s blog and social media, and creates targeted campaigns. In addition, from time to time the Company conducts polls and surveys on specific issues.

We have taken steps to ensure our website is fully accessible to all users. By implementing user-friendly design and assistive technologies, we’ve ensured our website meets all web accessibility standards, making our content and resources easily accessible to people with disabilities and those using assistive devices.

As a publicly traded company, ICL publishes financial reports on a regular basis and engages in periodic sessions with financial analysts and with the Company’s shareholders in addition to updating on relevant information through filings of immediate reports on TASE and NYSE and publication of press releases. It responds to various stakeholder information requests, ranging from information about its sustainability policies to its ESG performance and practices, via specialized platforms including the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), EcoVadis and others, including subject-specific disclosures such as TCFD (see pp.98-101 in ICL’s 2022 Annual Report).

The frequency of most disclosures is on an annual basis, excluding financial reports that are published on a quarterly basis. ESG issues are disclosed and discussed by ICL mainly through its annual ESG Reports (SASB- & GRI-based). ICL has also designed a new investor portal on the Company’s website incorporating an interactive data tool that provides current and historical Company-specific quarterly and annual financial data, ESG-related indicators and interactive charting capabilities. The data tool is downloadable to Excel, making ICL’s financial and ESG data more accessible and tangible to investors, as well as other stakeholders.

In addition, ICL reports to Maala Business on Social Responsibility in Israel and to the Israeli Voluntary Reporting Mechanism for Greenhouse Gases. The Company also occasionally publishes various voluntary reports and professional publications on a case-by-case basis. Local stakeholder groups also have direct communication with the Company.

ICL maintains a cooperative and transparent approach when engaging with Governments and Authorities seeking consensus on matters through professional considerations and agreements. In accordance with this approach, ICL is willing to deploy continuous monitoring to increase its transparency to include voluntary disclosures such as TCFD and resolve disputes by compromise, prioritizing open communication and collaborative solutions.

Transparency & Regulatory Bodies

At a local level, ICL’s sites meet their regulatory reporting obligations concerning their environmental impact. These requirements include monthly and annual reports, as well as near-real-time reports for certain activities and events. Regular and open communication is at the core of these interactions. We are proactive in sharing information and engaging in discussions to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met and exceeded. This includes reporting on our activities, progress and outcomes in a comprehensive, timely, and transparent manner. Beyond compliance, we actively seek opportunities for dialogue and collaboration with these entities, so as to better understand evolving standards and expectations, and continuously improve our sustainability efforts. At ICL Group, This active participation strengthens our commitment to accountability and fosters trust among our stakeholders. ICL also communicates internally to engage with employees and managers. 

Investor Relations-Open Communication

We believe in open, transparent communication and have crafted our user-friendly, and easily accessible website to serve as an effective bridge between ICL Group and investors. Through our investor relations focused website (https://investors.icl-group.com/) which serves as a comprehensive hub for all investor-related information, it offers immediate reporting and a variety of investing tools, including real-time stock quotes to keep our investors informed and updated, helping our investors make well-informed decisions. Furthermore, we ensure our stakeholders stay informed about our latest developments through access to the latest press releases.

Our Customers

At ICL Group, we understand the importance of nurturing close relationships with our customers. Our customer engagement goes beyond simply providing services and products; we seek to become a part of their journey, fostering a true partnership. This commitment sees us constantly engaging with our customers through various platforms – from exhibitions to webinars, and field events. Participating in these events allows us to remain abreast of our customers’ evolving needs and expectations, enabling us to respond efficiently and effectively. Our proactive approach to customer engagement affirms our dedication to their success, reinforcing the bond we share with them.

Customer interest regarding the Company’s environmental and sustainability impact continues to grow. Specific information requests are sent to the Company and are answered in a timely manner through direct communication.  Requests are also made through structured disclosure initiatives, to which ICL responds.

Our Suppliers

We hold a similar vision for our suppliers; we view them not just as suppliers, but as our partners. This mutual understanding and collaboration led us to host a major conference in Israel last year, providing a platform for collaboration and mutual growth. Following its success, we have now expanded our reach by hosting this year’s conference in Amsterdam, Europe. These conferences serve as a platform to appreciate their contribution, exchange ideas, and discuss ways to improve our partnership further. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to sustainable and synergistic relationships with our suppliers.

Our Employees

ICL also encourages internal communication to foster engagement with employees and managers through various means. Engagement is established in a variety of ways: through an internal website, which is the Internet homepage of all global employees and available in several languages, through internal Company newsletters distributed by business units, through live and recorded webcasts of the CEO addressing ICL’s employees regarding various issues; and, finally, through an internal e-mail messaging system that informs employees about executive appointments and critical issues such as health or security issues. Certain information is also reflected in various managerial information sharing panels. At ICL, we hold immense gratitude for the support of our employees' families, and as a testament to that, we initiate from time to time targeted family-oriented activities to promote family engagement. Additionally, during challenging times, both globally and personally, we make it a point to provide support as a way of giving back.

ICL initiates and participates in various conventions and events with its professional colleagues and stakeholders, especially regarding its products throughout their lifecycle, best practices and more. In addition, ICL fosters relationships with academic institutions and welcomes joint research projects that explore everything from product performance to the impact of facilities, including, for example, research to minimize the impact of erosion in mining areas on biodiversity.

ICL maintains intensive communication with local communities near its facilities. By continually investing and actively participating in these communities, ICL deepens its understanding of the needs and concerns of the local communities in which it operates. This in-depth knowledge informs ICL’s decision-making process.

ICL participates in various joint community forums where it exchanges information and concerns. ICL is also actively engaged with communities in non-formal forums. If issues arise, ICL tries to be as transparent as possible and to engage concerned neighbors in a timely manner. Through its employees, many of whom are residents of the local communities, the Company deepens its understanding of, and commitment to, the local communities. This knowledge provides insights for the Company’s decision-making process.

Community Dialogue

ICL takes part in various initiatives that involve representatives from ICL facilities, local communities, and environmental organizations. These initiatives aim to foster transparency and shared values.

 ICL sites work with surrounding communities to develop joint programs for the benefit of the environment and the community, to discuss economic potential, to create relationships between industry and various stakeholders, and to develop a well-informed and productive dialogue.    

ICL NEW VISITOR CENTER

In November 2021, the new Moshe Novomieski Potash Company Heritage and Visitor Center opened to the public. The Center is located at the historic living’ compound for employees in Sdom and highlights three main topics: the unique geological conditions that led to the formation of the Dead Sea; the history of the founding of the Eretz-Israeli Potash Company in pre-state Israel; and ICL’s current activities. The Center was established and is operated in collaboration with the Council for Preservation of Heritage Sites in Israel, the Jerusalem and Heritage Ministry, the Ministry of Education and others, and it constitutes a significant milestone in the history of industry in Israel.

In 2022, 50,606 people visited the Visitor Center.
