Security

ICL operates numerous mining and chemical production sites, many of which contain potentially hazardous materials and  corresponding equipment. ICL invests  significant efforts and resources to ensure the security of these sites, as well as the security of ICL’s employees and neighboring communities. \

ICL maintains a security policy based on internal procedures and methodology, incorporating relevant Israeli and international laws and regulations. ICL’s security operations are conducted in full cooperation with local security forces. Security issues are examined routinely around the world as part of periodic internal controls.

Over the past few years, ICL has significantly improved its security readiness with respect to technological developments and policy. This included establishing a global security policy and a uniform standard for all parts of ICL that meet and exceed relevant existing standards. ICL is also implementing a global fraud prevention plan.

Full cooperation exists between security and regulatory systems on all relevant security issues. The security department partners with HR on recruitment procedures as well as with legal, compliance, internal audit and CISO departments with respect to investigations and integrity. The security department also advises, coordinates, and distributes information to all ICL companies worldwide, and is also provides assistance in the event of an emergency at an ICL site.

The global policy provides guidance for regional security risk assessments, carried out by regional security/global HQ.

In addition, ICL has implemented significant improvements in the security of its plants, Including:

  • Improvements in the level of security training and competency of employees and contractors to meet strict regulations
  • Improved measures and technological security systems, peripheral cameras, motion detectors, radar equipment, sites access control, etc.
  • Improved security control centers for plants, some of which operate 24/7
  • Establishment of control procedures, periodic security surveys and security checks at the entrance to ICL’s facilities
  • An information security integration forum to improve ICL’s response to security information incidents
  • Physical and technological means to protect server rooms in the business network and the ICS network (production)
  • Security emergency drills and training
  • 12 technological security projects and 7 security risk assessments were carried out in the last 2 years.

For example, in Israel, where ICL operates several major production sites, we have implemented three level security rings at each of our sites. The security rings consist of an outer ring of physical security, including a fence and control gates, a middle ring of electronic security including CCTV, Radars, sensors and drones, and an inner ring of security management consisting of control rooms, dedicated rooms for crisis management and patrols. These include operating procedures to deal with evolving threats. Some of the Israeli sites are guided by the Israel Police and the Israel National Cyber Directorate. All sites are subject to relevant government ministry security guidelines, such as those of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of the Environmental Protection.

Israeli security personnel are approved and guided by the Israel Police Security Division.
