Established in 2021, ICL Planet Hub was created as an innovation catalyst serving early stage, pilot-ready start-ups, as well as more mature, market-ready start-ups operating within the agriculture and FoodTech domains. The initiative was driven to advance and nurture game-changing technology companies active in addressing critical global needs and making a positive and sustainable environmental impact. \

Deal Flow in Numbers & Related SDGs

In 2022 we transitioned to a Deal Flow and knowledge management process, by digitizing our entire scouting mission on a platform we named ICL-Scout. Now we can easily track and manage our strategic corporate scouting portfolio, analyze & evaluate our pipeline, and digitally engage our decision makers and subject matter experts to deliver the next ground-breaking technology for ICL.

Arkeon

ICL Planet Startup Hub, has invested in Arkeon. Arkeon’s patented process pioneered the harnessing of carbon dioxide to make protein – by using archaea, a highly resilient single-celled microorganism – without genetic engineering.

Plantible Foods

ICL Planet Startup Hub, has invested in Plantible Foods, a vertically integrated agricultural platform producing a functional protein derived from Lemna.

PlantArcBio

ICL Planet Startup Hub and ag-biotech company, PlantArcBio, are developing a novel bio-stimulant technology platform, which will improve crop yields with minimal impact on the environment. The platform successfully uses RNAi technology to maximize a plant's natural yield increase mechanisms, without any genetic modification, and is the culmination of a multi-year research collaboration between the two companies.

In early-stage canola field trials, the platform has significantly increased seed weight per hectare for canola crops. ICL and PlantArcBio are planning larger-scale field trials. These will include testing the new technology platform using both commercial sprayers and standard farming practices. Greenhouse trials for soybeans and rice are already in progress, with early results showing good potential.

Lavie Bio (Evogene)

ICL, via Planet Startup Hub, and Lavie Bio, a subsidiary of Evogene, are collaborating on developing novel bio-stimulant products to enrich fertilizer efficiency.
