Our People
The fertilizers and specialty fertilizers that we produce are critical inputs for farmers worldwide to help increase their yields and improve the quality of their crops. Our product suite also includes food solutions and products that increase food availability and minimize food waste, enhancing food security.
We also produce a broad range of industrial solutions such as brominated and phosphorus-based flame retardants, phosphate salts, magnesium-based products and other specialty solutions that are used for energy storage applications and to make various products safer, more durable and longer lasting. Some of our solutions are also integrated into personal care products and pharmaceuticals.
ICL’s operations are organized under four segments: Industrial Products, Potash, Phosphate Solutions and Growing Solutions.

R&D and Innovation (RD&I)
We benefit from vast agronomy and chemistry knowledge, as well as customer insights that we have accumulated over decades, as well as our proximity to Israel’s global leading high-tech and agritech ecosystems. Our extensive global R&D infrastructure includes 23 R&D and Innovation Centers around the world that employ 300 highly experienced persons who have registered 770 patents in 220 patent families. ICL’s RD&I unit supports the development of innovative products, applications and formulations for each of our operating segments through internal research, employee ideation and collaborative research with third parties.
In 2022, we invested approximately $170 million on environmental related projects, of which $80 million were investments in property, plant and equipment. Over the next few years, we intend to invest significant capital to further reduce our air emissions, treat hazardous materials and reduce our environmental impact. These include investments required to comply with the Israeli Clean Air Law, European environmental regulation, and other regional environmental regulation. We estimate that in 2023 we will invest approximately $191 million for environment related purposes.
Our Ambition Creates Excellence (ACE) program promotes the development of a standard energy efficiency methodology that is applied at all our sites. Our ACE energy efficiency projects range from Company-wide energy management and conservation methodology programs to optimization of production equipment and raising awareness of the importance of energy conservation among ICL’s employees and contractors.
ICL’s monetary donations in 2022 amounted to approximately $14.5 million (including the amount invested in the Visitor Center).
In addition, during 2022, ICL’s employees contributed over 60,000 hours of volunteer work. Around 24,500 hours were sponsored by the Company and an additional 35,000 hours were encouraged, organized, and logistically facilitated by ICL, but occurred after working hours.
For the year ended December 31, 2022, we generated revenues of $10 billion and operating income of $3.5 billion. See “Item 5 – Operating and Financial Review and Prospects – A. Operating Results – Results of Operations” in ICL’s 2022 Annual Report.
